Set on Wanderworld, a once vibrant planet now devastated by the adorable but destructive creatures known as Smogglers. The story begins in the last refuge, Salvage City, and revolves around the remnants of humanity, the Wanderbots. Players must unite the remaining Wanderbots by proving themselves in epic battle, and leading them on a mission to make Wanderworld habitable again.
The first sighting of a Smoggler was deceiving. At first glance, they seemed harmless, aimlessly drifting in the air. These squishy, bulbous creatures with oversized eyes and tiny mouths could almost be described as cute. But their appearance masked a deadly threat.
Beneath their innocent exterior, Smogglers concealed a dangerous reality. Their gooey bodies emitted toxic fumes potent enough to harm any living organism that came too close. The true danger, however, arose when they gathered in swarms. While a lone Smoggler was a nuisance, a swarm could bring catastrophe.
Internally, Smogglers were complex mechanical constructs, with advanced circuits and mechanisms allowing them to replicate and adapt endlessly. Studies revealed they were programmed to constantly evolve and produce these toxic fumes. Yet, the purpose behind their design remained a mystery.
What became clear was their rapid multiplication. Smogglers spread like wildfire, covering the planet and turning Wanderworld into a toxic wasteland. Once-thriving ecosystems withered, cities crumbled, and survivors were forced into fortified enclaves, desperately fighting for survival against these mechanical monsters.
As the atmosphere of Wanderworld became increasingly toxic due to the Smogglers, organic bodies could no longer survive. Humanity had no choice but to adapt. People began transferring their consciousness into mechanical bodies, creating the Wanderbots – beings with human minds but built to withstand the toxic environment.
These mechanical bodies, however, were not invincible. Over time, the Smogglers' toxins wore down even the strongest metal frames. Despair set in as survival became the only priority. Wanderbots hoarded resources and technology, fighting to stay operational as long as possible. The dream of restoring Wanderworld faded into a distant memory.
But not everyone surrendered to hopelessness. A small, determined group of Wanderbots believed there was still a chance to reverse the damage. They sought to uncover the secrets of the Smogglers, hoping to find a way to neutralize their toxins and one day restore Wanderworld to its former glory.
Amid Wanderworld’s devastation stands Salvage City, the final refuge of its inhabitants. Founded 300 years ago, this stronghold became the last safe haven as human settlements fell one by one to the advancing Smogglers. Here, the remaining Wanderbots clung to existence, preserving what little remained of their history and culture.
Salvage City is a towering, multi-level fortress, each level serving a critical function for survival. At the base lies the Waste Processing Facility, keeping the city clean of toxic materials. Above it is the Scrap Yard, where salvaged items are sorted and repurposed. The Manufacturing Facility hums with activity as new Wanderbots are built and old ones repaired. The Stasis Storage level preserves human minds within positronic brains, waiting for new mechanical bodies. Higher up is the Genetic Archive, safeguarding the biodiversity of Wanderworld’s past. At the very top, the Filtration System tirelessly filters toxins from the air, ensuring the city remains livable.
Despite the grim circumstances, life continues in Salvage City. Wanderbots trade goods, searching for some semblance of normalcy amidst the chaos. More than just a fortress, Salvage City stands as a beacon of hope in a world ravaged by poison and despair.
Born from necessity and, perhaps, boredom, Cyber Clash emerged during the early days of Salvage City. Life in the fortress was safe but monotonous, and the Wanderbots needed a way to keep their spirits high and their skills sharp.
What began as a simple competition evolved into the very foundation of Wanderbot society. Two opponents would face off, using customized augmentations to enhance their mechanical bodies for combat. Cyber Clash was not just a test of strength but of strategy, as each clash sharpened minds and prepared Wanderbots for the challenges ahead.
In its early days, Cyber Clash was a straightforward test of endurance. But as time passed, the competition grew more complex, with established rules and legendary champions emerging. These Clash Masters became leaders in Salvage City, their victories inspiring others.
Today, Cyber Clash remains a central part of Wanderbot culture. It is more than just a game; it is a way for the Wanderbots to prove their resilience and strength. The thrill of combat, the satisfaction of victory, and the sense of purpose in the challenge serve as reminders that even in a decaying world, there is strength and hope in unity.
